Parenting in low resource environments
The majority of the world’s families live in low-resource settings yet the majority of parenting research is conducted in high-income countries. The potential return on investment is higher in low-resource areas where early child development can be improved with nurturing environments. The challenges associated with parenting in very low resource settings and where poverty is high are extreme.
Special attention needs to be placed on supporting governments and families in low resource settings to ensure programs are available, accessible, scalable and meet families’ needs.
